Transformative agreements are new contracts negotiated between university libraries (or consortia) and publishers that publish scientific journals. These new contracts transform the current model of journal publishing. The CRUE and the CSIC have negotiated new conditions for the agreements they have with the publishers Elsevier, Springer Nature, Wiley and the American Chemical Society (ACS). The Universitat Ramon Llull, as part of the transformative agreement, has signed an Open Access Agreement with several publishers, which will allow URL research staff to publish in selected journals without paying APC fees.

In turn, URL together with CSUC has signed an agreement with Frontiers.

Potential beneficiaries

The corresponding author of articles accepted for publication by the publisher must belong to an institution participating in the agreement at the time of acceptance of the publication, and have an email address with the domain @iqs.url.edu.

Publish in OA with ACS (American Chemical Society)

The transformative agreement for open access publication with ACS allows a limited number of articles from the university to be published in open access, with a deadline of 31st December 2023. It also includes all of the publisher's journals, except ACS Omega.

Publish in OA with Frontiers

The URL together with CSUC has signed an agreement with the Frontiers publishers to publish in open access, that allows publish a limited number of articles in open access with the following conditions:

• 10% discount on the cost price of each article, provided that the institution covers the cost.
• The agreement includes all journals from this publisher.
• The author of correspondence must identify him/herself with the institutional email address of the URL.
