Abstract

This work consists of the development of a SCADA application for the flexible manufacturing system’s (FMS) verification station of the IQS Electronics laboratory using SIMATIC WinCC software from TIA Portal. The purpose of a SCADA application is to monitor the status and control the operation of an industrial facility. Currently, the FMS does already have an older SCADA application developed with a software called InTouch Wonderware.
Thus, the focus of the present work consists of the development of a new application, starting from the existing original SCADA, and implementing alternatives and extensions that improve its current interaction. With the advancement of technologies and with the aim of facilitating user management, SIEMENS® created TIA Portal, which is characterised by containing the qualities and functionalities of different software, among which SIMATIC STEP 7 and WinCC stand out. The former is used to create code and the latter to develop graphical systems.
Therefore, the aim of this work is to integrate all the information concerning the operation of the station and its monitoring into a single TIA Portal project.
