Abstract

The biologic treatments that are carried out on sewage treatment plants are an important focus in acquisition of antibiotic resistances by bacteria. For these reasons, it's so important that a good disinfection of these waters is carried out. The aim of this work is learning the use of UV LED light (Light Emitting Diode) for the inactivation of antibiotic sensitive and resistant Escherichia Coli. The results have shown that the antibiotic resistant bacteria are inactivated earlier by exposure to this light than the sensitive bacteria, possibly due to their mutations. The use of the would serve to ensure the complete elimination of bacteria and thus decrease the number of resistances.
