Impacte de la pandèmia de la Covid-19 en el consum d’ansiolítics, hipnòtics/sedants i antidepressius de la població ambulatòria de l’Hospital Mútua de Terrassa

Romero Girbau, Albert

The increase in the consumption of psychotropic drugs has been detected since the beginning of 2019, many months before the arrival of Covid-19 and the start of the pandemic. With the arrival of this, consumption has continued to increase at the same rate. Except with the young population: after the pandemic, young people have consumed more psychotropic drugs, specifically, anxiolytics and antidepressants. A direct effect can be attributed with great certainty.
The pandemic, therefore, has not directly affected the consumption of psychotropic drugs in the adult population. However, a general increase in consumption can be seen which, consequently, reflects a progressive worsening of mental health. Therefore, the hypothesis that drug consumption has increased due to the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic is partially confirmed, because only the young population has been affected.

Key Words: Pandemic - Anxiolytics - Antidepressants - Hypnotics/Sedatives - Mútua de Terrassa - Mental health
