Abstract In this project, ceramic-polymer composite coatings have been developed from hollow ceramic particles of yttria-stabilized zirconia, into which aqueous suspensions of fluoropolymer, specifically, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) have been infiltrated under vacuum. The results of the analysis of the composition by Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) and thermogravimetric analysis allow to confirm that the infiltration is carried out successfully. The posterior projection of these particles modified by atmospheric plasma projection (APS) makes it possible to obtain a ceramic-polymeric coating around 90 microns thick. The characterization of the layers by Raman microscopy revealed the presence of fluoropolymer and the measurement of the contact angle of water droplets, demonstrated its low wettability and its hydrophobic character. |
