Abstract

In this project, a study of the different thermal needs of the plant has been carried out, as well as the heat inputs that are made. The aim is to improve the efficiency of the process, as well as to take advantage of as much thermal energy as possible, in order to increase biogas production. For this, it has been necessary to find possible problems that cause heat losses in the hot water ring that goes to digestion process. It has been found that the main problem is in the heat exchangers that increase the sludge temperature. Solutions have been proposed to improve this problem, such as enhancing the pretreatment process or changing the type of heat exchanger, as well as new proposals to recover unused thermal energy, such as in the low temperature circuit or the combustion gases.
