POLYSPEC: Production and characterization of (bio)polymer composites tailored with specific end-use properties

Author

Molins Santaeularia, Adriana

Abstract

This project is divided in two parts, the first one is an introduction in the field of production and characterization of mineral filled composites, focused on the techniques of processing of polymers (HDPE) and methods of characterization of raw materials & polymer (nano)composites with prospects regarding modification and utilization of natural fillers such as talc, calcium carbonate and gypsum (CaSO4) derivatives and synergies with other micro- and nano-fillers in designed formulations. The second one has an industrial orientation and purpose and real-use application and is part of a bigger project involving other universities and enterprises. The main aim is the development of PLA/PHB/ethylene scavengers for food packaging with antibacterial properties.
