The pharmaceutical industry is under increasing pressure due to increasing costs, development time, and new technical challenges in developing a pharmaceutical product. It is widely recognized that pharmaceutical R&D productivity has declined over the years. Therefore, in order to increase R&D productivity, the different pharmaceutical companies have defined different parameters to be able to help in decision-making and prioritize their resources appropriately.
