Abstract The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic is a global public health problem. The arrival of vaccines to curb the spread of infection through collective immunity was taken as the main control measure. In the context of an international health emergency, the introduction of the AstraZeneca vaccine raised questions with an important ethical component about its research, development and distribution. This paper reviews the controversial bioethical aspects, from the rapid approval of the vaccine, its side effects, its distribution and some of the accusations made by the so-called "anti-vaccine" groups. The conclusion of the study is that, despite the controversy, the AstraZeneca vaccine has always been safe, and that these processes have been carried out following good clinical and ethical standards. |
