Abstract

Together with the strong expansion that has taken place in the last decade of university rankings at an international level, great interest has been generated in different parts of the world in the state of university positions, while there is a growing number about How universities face these results so that they can be accepted in the decision-making of future university students and also of those in charge of rankings. The objective of this work is, on the one hand, to analyze the different types of rankings most used in the international university arena within the period 2015 to 2022 and also to analyze and interpret the two main university rankings, which are the UK Financial Times (FT) Ranking and the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Ranking (QS) quality, theoretical and methodological criteria that structure these global rankings in a university margin from the period 2015 to 2021 and from the period 2019 to 2022 respectively. The different positions of the universities in the different classifications carried out by these two rankings of FT and QS are verified and it is concluded that indeed the different weights and positions of the ranking table are consistent and have veracity in the results of the positions within the ranking table and for this the average hierarchy formula was made, which makes everything become a position and by placing the correlation when we find the respective formula, what is obtained as a final result is Spearman's rank correlation coefficient, that tells us how much a position of a value affects the position of the final result.
