Abstract

This TFG includes the characterization of the products involved in the different stages of the general project, from polymerization to the making of the nickel bath; analysis of the nickel baths’ stability according to the type of surfactant (CTAB and SDS), and the characterization of the samples obtained in the coating process. The concentration of both nickel and sodium hypophosphite are shown to be within the values indicated by the product brand; besides, the orthophosphite concentration is determined, which is not reported by the manufacturer. The characterization of these products show that they are hydrated nickel sulfate, sodium hypophosphite and glycerin. Finally, it is demonstrated that PS is distributed more homogeneously and evenly over the sample’ surface when CTAB is added.
