Abstract

Not all structures are created equal, topology and material distribution can result in elements presenting the same mass reacting in completely different ways to a same set of boundary conditions. Thanks to advances in the additive manufacturing field, previously unattainable topologies have become widely available and within reach of the general user, able to research their properties for later application, a phenomenon capable of creating a paradigm shift in the way we use and develop certain structural components.
On top of the previously stated, it is possible to include the use of complex mathematical models in order to create what would effectively be, the highest functioning geometry possible, according to the systems boundary conditions.
