Dode-Thin Lattice Structure Mechanical Behaviour Study

Abstract

This project aims at studying the mechanical behavior of a Rhombic Dodecahedron lattice structure for which the core is composed by Dode-Thin beams, by starting with an analytical approach of the Dode-Thin beam and its characteristics and then by calculating it using a finite element calculation software and finding the equivalent radius of a round section beam with the same mechanical properties. Then calculating the mechanical behavior of the Dode-Thin beams inside the Rhombic Dodecahedron lattice structure and also finding the equivalent diameter and the apparent Young modulus to finally compare it with a practical measurement of an additively manufactured Rhombic Dodecahedron lattice structure.
