Abstract

The Non-parametric kinetics (NPK) method is applied to study kinetic crystallization of low-density polyethylene (LDPE). Kinetic data is collected from DSC analysis.
Two vectors, u and v are obtained from NPK. Vector u provides information about conversion functionality of the process. This vector fits, correctly, the Šesták–Berggren model with 2 and 3 parameters. On the other hand, vector v provides information about the dependence of the process on temperature. Lauritzen-Hoffman crystallization kinetic model is fitted. It is observed, within the studied temperature range, that LDPE has two nucleation regimes. Furthermore, from the adjustment, parameters Go and Kg are obtained for each regime.
Finally, to validate the predictive behavior of NPK, the crystallization rate picks of the experimental data are successfully simulated.
