In this master's thesis, a study of the aza-Michael-type reactions that form compounds analogous to histamine is carried out. The reactions between 2-Vinylpyridine with the following amines are studied: isopropylamine, propylamine, cyclohexylamine, and tert-butylamine. An excess of amine with a ratio of 1.45 is used. Follow-up reactions are carried out at reflux temperature for up to 4 hours and continuously in a 1 ml Syrris ASIA reactor at 120, 130, and 140 °C, at 5 and 10 minutes residence time and 10 pressure bars. The formation of a by-product resulting from the reaction between the analog formed and the vinyl-substituted pyridine is found and the performance of each reaction is established. In this way, the functioning of these little-studied reactions is better understood in order to develop their potential in the future. It is found that the selectivity and the yield are higher continuously and that the formation of the by-product resulting from the reaction between the analog formed and the vinyl-substituted pyridine is diminished the higher the steric hindrance.
