Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic had a huge impact on the economic, social and environmental pillars of sustainability in human lives. The aim of this study is to find out whether after the arrival of COVID-19 in our lives, the industries of the health and fine chemicals sector, have implemented a variation in the sustainability policies as an essential part in the management of these. The information from the study was obtained from an online survey sent to representative companies of the sector. The results obtained show a high commitment in the management of the industry based on sustainability. However, most of the sample shows that urgent climate action must be taken to prevent biodiversity loss, climate change and water scarcity. As a result, it is shown that it is not that the policies have changed, but that they had already been designed and implemented before the arrival of COVID-19. Therefore, there is no causal relationship. However, it is observed that the smaller industries, or those that do not have as much presence in the market, are considering a management based on sustainability. It should be noted that this field study provides guidance and non-representative information.
