Risk indicator for decision making in the pharmaceutical industry

The pharmaceutical industry is under increasing pressure due to increasing costs, development time, and new technical challenges in developing a pharmaceutical product. It is widely recognized that pharmaceutical R&D productivity has declined over the years. Therefore, in order to increase R&D productivity, the different pharmaceutical companies have defined different parameters to be able to help in decision-making and prioritize their resources appropriately. One of the most important parameters to be able to evaluate the success of a project in the technical field is the probability of technical success.
In this project, an analysis has been prepared to be able to calculate the probability of technical success of the projects in a homogeneous way and following a criterion. For this, a detailed study has been carried out on what factors put the continuity of a project at risk. Resulting in a risk baseline where all those activities that put the development of a pharmaceutical product at risk are exposed. A correlation has been defined between the risks associated with a project and the calculation of the probability of technical success.
