Abstract The study of metal corrosion processes is one of the areas of engineering with the most significant interest due to the harmful effects that premature deterioration of pieces and components can cause, with the consequent effect on costs and production. In anticipation of the appearance of this phenomenon, one of the most widely used alloys in the industry is 316L stainless steel, austenitic type, with high resistance to different types of corrosion and used in applications where there is a very aggressive medium. Typical examples of its implementation are the chemical and petrochemical industry, the food industry, phar-maceuticals, textiles, offshore structures and welding applications. This alloy can form a passive layer, which makes it particularly resistant to corrosion. In this project, we pro-ceed to the qualitative nanotechnological study of the test piece surfaces of this material, obtained both by hot lamination and by additive manufacturing, by applying external forces and electrochemical polarization, recording the results digitally using AFM / SKPFM microscopic techniques. After a topographic analysis of the surfaces treated un-der the different experimental conditions, valuable conclusions are drawn for the industry. |
