Optimization of a methodology for determining the biodegradability of a solid waste

Abstract

The biodegradability of waste is based on the degradation of the organic matter of the waste by the microorganisms themselves. In this project, one of the methods to evaluate the biodegradability of waste is studied: the determination of the respirometric activity parameter (AT4) using the OxiTop® Control equipment. This method is based on the quantification of the oxygen consumption necessary to degrade the biodegradable organic matter present in the sample. During this project, respirometric tests have been carried out at different experimental conditions for the optimization of the method.
