Abstract

Nowadays the coatings of materials are one of the most used techniques in the industrial world. They are a great utility for take advantage of some pieces in many areas, from the automotive and aeronautical to the medical world. The covering studied in this project is titanium boride (TiB2), mainly in the steel parts, specifically in 12379 steel, and on the other hand in silicon pieces.
The High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HiPIMS) technique, which is carried out at the Flubetech company, has been studied. It is a new coating technique based on traditional materials coating techniques. Different possible variables that can affect the performance of the coating are studied, as well as its possible preferential orientations. On the other hand, a head treatment is carried out to see if the properties of the coatings are affected, at 300ºC and 600ºC.
Due to the difficulties experienced by the COVID-19 pandemy, this project has been modified. Originally and experimental part was going to be carried out in the Flubetech production plant, but due to mobility and sanitary difficulties, the project has been reorganized, focusing more on a bibliographic vision.
