Abstract

In this Master's thesis, a study of needs and requirements is developed, and the corresponding results obtained, to develop and prototype a control platform integrated in a current railway backhoe, called On-Track Autonomous Multi-Purpose Mobile Manipulator (OTA3M) to automate maintenance tasks, in order to improve the safety and quality of the working conditions of railway maintenance workers.
This Master's thesis is part of the research project “STREAM”, funded by Shift2Rail JU and the European Commission, which, apart from the development of the OTA3M, also develops a Modular Multitasking Powered Exoskeleton (MMPE), an active exoskeleton to improve conditions of railway maintenance and inspection manual tasks.
The objective of the Requirements and KPIs for OTA3M is to describe all the requirements, specifically, the user, company, and technical requirements to take into account for the realization of the OTA3M prototype, thanks to the cooperation of different project partners and end-users. Importance is also given to safety and regulatory and ethical aspects. Likewise, the technical requirements necessary to implement the OTA3M technical solution will be provided. This Master thesis will also identify the KPIs, as well as collect the reference values and the evaluation strategy that will be carried out in the future with the target values after the development and integration of OTA3M.
