Design and development of a multi-sided digital platform to connect SMEs focused on the manufacturing industry: the backend module

Supply chains tend to be complicated and rigid. Furthermore, the procedure of finding a new supplier within the manufacturing sector is usually tedious and exhaustive. A lot of resources are spent and results are not always promising. Consequently, the market has tried to mitigate the problem through the introduction of B2B multi-sided platforms. Their main aim is to provide a digital environment where client and supplier can meet. A multi-sided platform contains some special features, amongst which stands out the fact that it does not only act as an intermediary, but can control the volume of transactions. Therefore, the present work is centred in the creation of a B2B multi-sided platform which merges all the necessities the B2B companies and SMEs have, focusing on the Spanish market and the manufacturing sector. The present work analyses the backend module, and puts high emphasis on applying the domain driven architecture. Three main domains are identified: the user, the company and the search engine. Thus, the creation of the databases together with the communication between all the services will be detailed. The API Gateway, a fundamental service in charge of connecting the frontend and the backend will also be described.
