Abstract

This project appears from a real need of monitoring the behaviour of the rail track during the maintenance works done by the company COMSA. This document presents the process of designing, manufacturing, and testing the sensors that aim to fulfil this need.
To start with, a study of the problem and the previous works on the field is performed, to acknowledge the requirements of the project and the necessary changes on the actual design in order to achieve the objectives. The next step will be the manufacturing of the sensor prototypes and the cases that will contain them. With the prototypes finished, the system will be tested to validate their performance. The variables of the sensors that must be tested are the following: battery autonomy, range of the radio, inclinometer precision and accelerometer precision. Finally, the results of the tests are analysed to validate the parts that fulfil the requirements and improvements are suggested for the parts that do not achieve the objectives.
