Abstract

This project consists of designing an offshore wind farm in a proper place at the Spanish coast. To do this, the first step is to do an analysis of the use of wind as an energy source throughout history, as well as a study of the current situation of wind energy at the international and national level.
The next step, is to carry out an analysis of the potential sites where the park could be located, followed by a study of the climatological characteristics of the selected location. With this, an investigation of the wind turbine models of the main manufacturing companies is done in order to select the one that best suits the location. Once the theoretical behaviour of the park is known, an analysis of its economic viability is carried out using a series of criteria that make it possible to confirm whether it is a profitable installation or not.
Next, in order to find the proper subsea cable section, the methods followed for that purpose are described as well as the main functions and components of the electrical substation of the installation. The next step is to enumerate and briefly describe all those elements designed to protect the park, followed by the analysis of the environmental impacts associated with the construction, operation and dismantling of the offshore wind farm.
