Abstract

The aim of this project is to develop and design a PID controller to control the temperature of a system.
A detailed theoretical study is first conducted to achieve it. A modeling of the real system is presented together with an analysis of its behavior. This allows the obtention of a PID algorithm that controls the resulting theoretical signal. In addition, the effectiveness of the controller against disturbances and tolerances is studied, being supported by a sensitivity analysis.
Afterwards, the experimental PID algorithm that best controls the real system’s temperature at different setpoints is obtained. It is based on the theoretically designed PID, and the real estimation of the convection coefficient. This PID is intended to be capable of controlling the system at any assigned setpoint in the shortest time and with the greatest stability.
