Abstract

The Good Catering Company is a sustainable and versatile catering company with the desire to start doing business in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area. We want to make sure we provide excellent catering services and invest in the most environmentally friendly practices, as well as having our team at risk of social exclusion. The company is based in Barcelona. The management of The Good Catering Company consists of Anna Guerrero and Mariona Rovirosa; two Postgraduate students in Business Administration with little experience but a lot of knowledge in the market. Our customers are all those who are willing to hire a party, a celebration or a meeting and would rather have someone cook for them, rather than cook for themselves. The Good Catering Company offers versatile product offerings, not only in what can be served but also offering a different portfolio of services from the rest of the market. In and around the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, there are a large number of different catering companies and other businesses that can provide this type of service. Therefore, it is essential to be able to offer a differentiated service from the rest to attract the largest possible number of customers.
We estimate a total of 1,617,709.63 potential customers, those in the age range between 18 and 85, who we consider those with the disposition and financial means to want to hire a catering service. This would give a total estimate of € 566,198,370.50 as a potential market size. With a good number of catering companies in this sector, after having done a thorough research, we determine the key characteristics of the different businesses in the sector. Therefore, it is clear that a differentiated service needs to be presented to attract more customers. In our times, customers are more concerned about the environment and expect companies to do so. Therefore, our main goal, which results in a competitive advantage, is to offer more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. Not only in production, but also in service delivery.
